A Benicia resident died on Thursday after his motorcycle crashed on a road in unincorporated Solano County.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. when 69-year-old Harold Bray, Jr. attempted to negotiate a left turn while riding along Lopes Road near Marshview Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP reported Bray was ejected from the motorcycle and died from injuries sustained in the crash. His identity was released by the Solano County Coroner’s Office on Friday.
Bray was the son of local veteran Harold Bray, who survived the sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis during World War II. Public records showed the younger Bray worked for a construction company.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear, nor was it known if Bray was speeding at the time of the crash. The CHP said there was no information if drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the CHP’s Solano office in Fairfield at 707-639-5600.
