Crash involving truck, train reported in rural Dixon

Firefighters are on the scene of a crash involving a commuter train and a tractor trailer in rural Dixon.

The crash was reported around 12:30 p.m. along Lewis Road north of Hawkins Road east of the city of Vacaville.

Preliminary information learned by Solano NewsNet indicates an Amtrak train traveling from Sacramento to the San Francisco Bay Area struck a tractor trailer that was carrying several thousand pounds of gravel.

The truck appeared to suffer minor damage, according to aerial video broadcast by KCRA-TV (Channel 3). The train was halted in the area, and Amtrak is not sure when it will run again.

Lewis Road was blocked for a short time while emergency personnel processed the scene of the crash.
