A widespread power outage in rural Dixon was caused by a tractor that crashed into a utility pole.

The crash happened Wednesday around 2:30 p.m. along a stretch of Pedrick Road in the northwestern portion of rural Dixon.

According to fire dispatches, a tractor was mowing some grass in the area when it crashed into a power pole, sending utility lines onto the ground and sparking a small grass fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the crash triggered a widespread power outage that affected more than 500 Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) customers from Russell Boulevard in rural Yolo County to Tremont Road and County Road 104 in eastern Dixon.

Power was restored to all affected customers by 5 p.m.
