A body recovered from a Solano County creek over the weekend is believed to be that of a missing man from Winters, a source told Solano NewsNet on Tuesday.
The body was recovered by search-and-rescue personnel with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office’s Marine Patrol unit on Sunday.
Officials with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office have not formally released the identity of the person whose body was pulled from the water on Sunday, but a preliminary review of the body indicates it is likely that of missing 18-year-old Eduardo Fierros of Winters, according to a law enforcement source who asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to disclose information to the media.
Fierros went missing after a pick-up truck he was in crashed near Lake Solano earlier this month. Another person who was inside the pick-up truck, identified only as an 18-year-old friend of Fierros, was rescued shortly after the crash.
An extensive search operation was launched to locate Fierros, drawing police personnel and volunteers to a stretch of Putah Creek Road near the crash scene. The search continued until Sunday, when rescuers pulled a body from the water near the scene of the crash.
No further search or recovery operations are expected in that part of rural Solano County for the foreseeable future.
