Update, 2 a.m. Saturday:

Highway 113 at Highway 12 is re-open to traffic. Highway 12 in both directions at the round-about is also re-open to traffic.

Update, 8:30 p.m.:

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene of an earlier vegetation fire along Highway 113 after a damaged power pole re-ignited the blaze, according to fire dispatches.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was already on the scene when the blaze re-ignited on the damaged utility pole.

Officials have closed Highway 12 between Olsen Road and Currey Road, and Highway 113 from McCormack Road to the roundabout, while crews work to fix the power pole. There is no estimated time of re-opening.

Motorists should drive through Birds Landing in order to get around the roadblock.

Update, 7:30 p.m.:

The CHP has issued a SIG ALERT for a stretch of Highway 12 and Highway 113 impacted by a vegetation fire on Friday.

All lanes of Highway 12 between Olson Road and Currie Road, and Highway 113 between McCormack Road and the Highway 12 round-about, is closed to all vehicular traffic.

There is no estimated time of re-opening. The CHP advises motorists to use alternate routes to get to Rio Vista from the west and Fairfield from the east.

The closure comes after firefighters extinguished a vegetation fire that damaged a wooden utility pole used by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) and Comcast. The pole was leaning toward the roadway during the fire and was at risk of imminent collapse, according to a fire official.

The road is closed through the area while workers fix the power pole.
