The Rio Vista Police Department has identified the four people who were killed in a major traffic crash along Highway 12 earlier this week.

The crash happened Wednesday evening near Summerset Drive when a Honda Accord veered into oncoming traffic, then attempted to over-correct, causing it to collide with a Chevrolet Suburban.

All three occupants of the Honda Accord were killed, with two people ejected from the vehicle. Police said alcoholic beverage containers were found inside and around the car, and a source familiar with the investigation said it is likely the crash was caused by impaired driving.

  • Jordan Colvin, 20,
  • Erica Anderson, 19, and
  • Lacey Conway, 19.

Anderson was reportedly a passenger in the vehicle, which she owned. Colvin, who was previously identified as a Rancho Cordova resident, was the driver, police said.

The Chevrolet Suburban was carrying a vacationing family from Mexico. A woman, later identified as Laura Poiret, was the fourth person to die in the crash. Poiret, who was in her 70s, was a passneger in the Suburban, police said.

Six other people were taken to various local hospitals with a wide range of injuries. They were identified as victims between the ages of 8 and 37. All are said to be in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
