Large vessels and other ships that travel along the Sacramento River will not be able to pass through Solano County if they require the Rio Vista Bridge to lift during daylight hours.
Earlier this week, the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) said the bridge will not lift between the hours of 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. while crews work to install backup equipment to help the overall reliability of the bridge.
The maintenance work is expected to last through the week until Friday at the latest, a CalTrans spokesperson said.
The bridge is safe and will remain open to drivers who need to travel between Solano and Sacramento counties.
