Equipment at the Potrero Hills landfill ignited early Friday evening, triggering a two-alarm fire response to rural Solano County south of Suisun City.
The fire was reported around 6:20 p.m. at the landfill on Potrero Hills Lane.
A responding fire crew said equipment ignited at the landfill, though there was no threat to nearby vegetation.
The blaze sent a thick plume of black smoke that was visible from parts of Suisun City and Fairfield.
The fire was contained around 7:15 p.m. There was no information on what started the blaze.
