Brad Lopez, who spent much of his career serving in fire leadership positions in Winters, has been named the new fire chief for Suisun City.

The announcement was made earlier this week following a report from the Winters Express newspaper that said Lopez would leave his position as fire chief in that city for the same spot in Suisun City.

"I’m going to miss the people of this organization and their dedication," Lopez told the newspaper.

Lopez was named fire chief in Winters just two years ago. His decision to leave for Suisun City came following a lengthy search in that city for a new fire department head, according to city officials.

"Chief Lopez stood out as an exemplary candidate that we were fortunate to be able to attract to lead our department," Greg Folsom, Suisun City's manager, said in a statement. "I am confident that Chief Lopez will be a strong leader as we continue to build our fire department."

Lopez formally left the Winters Fire Department on August 21. The next day, he started in his role with Suisun City.

"I was fortunate to spend thirty years with the Winters Fire Department, and I am excited to bring that experience to Suisun City," Lopez said in a statement. "I know I have a great team to work with here in Suisun City and I’m looking forward to leading the Suisun City Fire Department as we continue to improve our department in service to our community."
