Firefighters to conduct training burn on Callen Hill in Vacaville

The Vacaville Fire Department says it will conduct a routine training burn on Callen Hill next week.

The burn is scheduled to take place Monday, August 15 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the hillside between Brown Street and Allison Parkway.

A spokesperson for the fire department says residents and motorists in the area may see large plumes of smoke coming from the hillside during the exercise. Some neighborhoods in the Callen Street and Browns Valley Parkway area could see a significant amount of drift smoke, depending on wind conditions.

Fire officials say residents and motorists who see smoke coming from that hill should not call 9-1-1 during the training burn hours. Fire personnel will be on scene throughout the day as part of the training exercise.
