Fire crews have contained a large vegetation blaze that ignited in rural Vacaville on Monday.

The fire started around 11:30 a.m. along the 6000 block of Pleasants Valley Road north of Cherry Glen and west of the incorporated city.

A responding fire crew spotted a slow-moving vegetation fire that was headed east toward the city, triggering several evacuation orders that lasted all of an hour.

Aircraft from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) arrived on the scene Monday afternoon and helped build containment lines around the blaze with retardant and water drops.

Later in the afternoon, officials from the Solano County Hazardous Materials Response Team were called to a residence along Pleasants Valley Road to deal with a 55-gallon container that was damaged by the flames.

No structures were lost, and no other damage was reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear as of Monday evening.
