A fire near a business drew a large firefighting response to central Vacaville on Monday.
The fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. along East Monte Vista Avenue near Callen Street.
The fire appeared to originate in a box truck that was parked next to a shipping container. Flames spread to the container and nearby wooden pallets, sending a thick, black plume of smoke that could be seen throughout the city and along nearby Interstate 80.
Traffic along East Monte Vista Avenue was impacted between Brown Street and Allison Drive. Police had the right lane of eastbound East Monte Vista Avenue blocked to cars.
A fire department spokesperson said three fire engines and a medic unit were sent to the scene of the blaze. The spokesperson said the cause of the fire was not known as of Monday afternoon.
The fire was determined to be under control around 5 p.m.
