A helicopter contracted by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) will conduct a low-flying operation in rural Solano County next week.
The helicopter will fly from Monday, August 29 to Thursday, September 1 in rural parts of Vacaville and Winters along the Solano County-Yolo County line.
A public official with the City of Vacaville says the helicopter will fly as low as 500 feet during the exercise, which will take place during daylight hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The helicopter will be equipped with several pieces of technology, including Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) sensors, that will help the utility inspect power lines in the area.
The inspection will help PG&E maintain its electrical equipment in areas prone to severe wildfires.
