Vallejo police search for suspects who robbed armored truck

The Vallejo Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred in front of a grocery store on Tuesday.

The robbery happened around 1:50 p.m. along the 700 block of Admiral Callaghan Way.

A police spokesperson confirmed an employee of a cash-handling business was robbed at gunpoint, but did not have information about the suspects involved in the incident.

According to information learned by Solano NewsNet, the target of the robbery was an armored truck that was parked near a Safeway grocery store. A total of three suspects were identified by eyewitnesses, who said the gunmen appeared to be armed with assault rifles and fled the scene with a significant amount of money.

Police were looking for a Chrysler sedan with tinted windows and a Colorado license plate, according to emergency radio traffic reviewed by Solano NewsNet.

Officers in Fairfield, Suisun City and Vacaville and deputies with the Solano County Sheriff's Office were put on alert immediately after the robbery, but the vehicle and the suspects had not been spotted as of 3 p.m.
