A police pursuit ended with the death of a teenager on a street in Vallejo early Friday morning.
The pursuit started around midnight when California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers spotted a red Chevrolet pick-up truck speeding on Interstate 80.
The car didn’t stop when officers put on their lights and sirens, and the chase was on, at one point exiting the freeway and winding its way through several surface streets.
The pursuit came to an end when the driver of the pick-up truck flipped the vehicle on Tuolumne Street near Parkview Terrace in Vallejo, according to information learned by Solano NewsNet.
The driver, a 16-year-old, was killed when he was ejected from the pick-up truck. A teenage passenger suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The CHP did not return an inquiry seeking comment from Solano NewsNet, but emailed reporters at other news organizations with information about the pursuit and the crash some time later. That press release was not sent to Solano NewsNet for reasons that are unknown.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the CHP at 707-639-5600.
